องค์ประกอบสำคัญของงานดีไซน์ที่เป็นพื้นฐานความงามของการออกแบบ นั่นคือ เนื้อแท้แห่งวัสดุ ตั้งแต่วัสดุธรรมชาติที่งดงามด้วยตัวของมันเอง ไม่ว่าจะเป็นผิวสัมผัสและสีของเนื้อวัสดุดั้งเดิมซึ่งปราศจากการตกแต่งสีสันฟินิชชิ่งใดๆ อันมีที่มาจากธาตุพื้นฐานทั้ง เหล็ก ดิน หิน ไปจนถึงวัสดุสังเคราะห์อย่าง แก้ว การออกแบบที่เน้นสัจจะวัสดุ โชว์ความงามแห่งเนื้อแท้ขององค์ประกอบสำคัญนี้ จึงเป็นความงามที่อยู่เหนือกาลเวลา
